Puducherry Museum

In Puducherry Museum you will get a chance to trace its French roots and very old history. From the archaeological findings of the Erikamedu Roman settlement, to the Chola and Pallava dynasties, various eras of history are preserved here. The museum has stone-carved sculptures, bronze sculptures of Indian gods and goddesses, fossilized trunks of ancient trees, models of means of transport, brass temple lamps, church remains, handicrafts, coins, shells and fossils. There is an entire section here devoted to the history and legendary French colonial information.

Kalialaya Surf School

One of the premium surfing schools in India, Kalliya Surf School is a must visit tourist attraction in Pondicherry. This surf school was started by two Spanish brothers, Juan and Samai Riboul, who settled in Auroville. Here you can choose from a variety of packages and trainings as per your interest, budget and requirements. You can also avail surfing equipment of international standards. In addition, visitors from all over the world come here to participate in the Summer Swell Challenge, an annual festival.

Manakula Vinayagar Temple

At a distance of 3 km from Puducherry Bus Station, Manakula Vinayagar Temple is one of the famous ancient temples dedicated to Lord Ganesha and is a popular pilgrimage site in Puducherry. The Manakula Villenagar temple was in existence before the French came and settled in Pondicherry and the idol of Lord Ganesha is locally known as Vellakaran Pillai. French Jesuits and missionaries tried to demolish the temple several times, but each time the local population saved the temple. Situated at a height of 18 feet, the gold plated Kodikambam is a splendid attraction of this temple. The outer wall of the temple depicts various forms of Ganesha.
