In the case of misbehavior with cricketer Prithvi Shaw, the court sent Sapna Gill to judicial custody for 14 days.

Mumbai A Mumbai court on Monday sent social media ‘influencer’ Sapna Gill and three other accused to 14-day judicial custody in connection with the alleged manhandling of Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw and attack on his car. Sapna and the other accused were produced before a magistrate’s court on the expiry of their preliminary police remand on Monday. The police had sought extension of the remand saying they needed to trace the baseball bat and vehicle used in the alleged crime.

However, the court dismissed the plea and sent the accused to judicial custody. The police have added Section 387 of the Indian Penal Code in addition to the original charges of rioting and extortion in the case. Sapna Gill’s counsel Kashif Ali Khan told the court that the additional section was added only to harass the accused. The incident took place on Wednesday outside a big hotel in Mumbai’s Santacruz area. When Prithvi Shaw refused to click a selfie with Sapna, they had an altercation and later the matter escalated.
