Vinesh Phogat accuses Wrestling Association President of sexual harassment during Wrestler Protest

Top wrestlers of the country, including world championship medalist Vinesh Phogat, staged a sit-in at Jantar Mantar against Wrestling Federation of India President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on January 18. During this, Vinesh Phogat made many serious allegations against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh including adopting dictatorial attitude.

 

During this, wrestler Vinesh Phogat said that he interferes in our personal life. The president of the federation troubles us a lot. We are being exploited. When we went to the Olympics, we didn’t have a physio or a coach. He said that ever since we raised our voice, we are being threatened. Coaches are harassing women and some of the federation’s favorite coaches misbehave with women coaches as well. They sexually assault girls. WFI President has also sexually harassed many girls. Not only this, Vinesh Phogat said that we will present all the evidence when the High Court directs us. We are also ready to hand over all the evidence to the PM.

 

During this, Bajrang Punia said that wrestlers do not want to tolerate the dictatorship going on in the federation. We want that the management of Wrestling Federation of India should be changed as soon as possible. We hope that the Prime Minister and the Home Minister will support us. He said that the girls here are from respectable families. If our sisters and daughters are not safe here then we cannot accept it. We demand that the federation be changed.

 

On this matter, Olympic wrestler Sakshi Malik said that the entire federation should be removed so that the future of new wrestlers is safe. A new union should come into existence. Dirt is spread from the lower level. We will speak to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah and give full details on this matter. Some cases should be investigated.

 

Bajrang Punia tweeted that the player works hard to get the medal for the country but the Federation has done nothing but let us down. Players are being harassed by imposing any law they want. The job of the Federation is to support the players, take care of their sporting needs. If there is a problem, it has to be solved. What to do if the federation itself creates the problem? We have to fight now, we will not back down.
