India made a winning start in the Asian Mixed Team Championship 2023, beating Kazakhstan 5-0

Dubai. India began their campaign at the Asia Mixed Team Badminton Championship on a bright note as star shuttlers PV Sindhu and HS Prannoy registered comfortable victories as they thrashed Kazakhstan 5-0 in their group match here on Tuesday. Mixed doubles pair of Ishaan Bhatnagar and Tanisha Crasto got India off to a good start, beating Makhsut Tadjibullayev and Nargiza Rakhmetullayeva 21-5 21-11.

Prannoy then defeated Dmitriy Panarin 21-9 21-11 in men’s singles in just 24 minutes. Sindhu then defeated Kamila Smagulova 21-4 21-12 in just 20 minutes to give India an unassailable 3-0 lead. The other mixed doubles pair of Krishna Prasad Garga and Vishnuvardhan Goud Panjala and the women’s doubles pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand also won their matches in straight games.

India will take on the United Arab Emirates in their second Group B match on Wednesday. Malaysia is the other team in the group. The teams are divided into four groups. Each group consists of four teams. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarter-finals.
