Indian boxer Urvashi Singh won two titles in Colombo, WBC International Super Bantamweight and WBC Asia Silver Crown titles

Indian boxer Urvashi Singh won the WBC international super bantamweight and WBC Asia silver crown after defeating national champion Thanchanok Phanan of Thailand in a 10-round contest in Colombo. Urvashi defeated Thanchanok via unanimous decision in the match on Sunday night. Urvashi adopted a strategic approach in the initial rounds but from the fourth round she dominated her opponent.

Thanchanok tried to make a comeback but Urvashi completely dominated the Thailand player with her strategy, speed and hard punches. Urvashi said, “I am thankful to my entire promotion team without whom I could not have achieved this feat. I am now the WBC Asia continental and international champion.” Meanwhile, former amateur youth world champion Sarju Bala Devi won the flyweight title after Thailand’s Khwanchit Khunya was knocked out in the second round due to injury.

Indian boxer Avikas Tarachand defeated Sri Lankan national champion Lasindu Eranda to win the lightweight title. Another Indian boxer and WBC Asian continental champion Sachin Deckwal, however, lost to Filipino boxer Jules Victoriano.
