Indian players relax before the semi-finals, enjoy dinner in ‘British Raj’

Adelaide. The Indian team enjoyed dinner at the ‘British Raj’ restaurant here ahead of the semi-final match of the T20 World Cup against England. The Indian team has had to travel continuously since its arrival in Australia and now that the T20 World Cup is in its final stages, the players dine at a well-known Indian restaurant before the big semi-final match. On Thursday, the Rohit Sharma-led side will look to end England’s journey in the ongoing tournament. Located on Henley Beach Road in Torranceville, this restaurant is famous for its Chicken Tikka, Kashmiri Pulao and Rogan Josh. At the start of the tournament, the Indian team had a problem with the food being provided by the International Cricket Council as it was not to the liking of the players. A senior official of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), privy to team activities, told PTI, “There hasn’t been much opportunity for the team and the players to rest and deflect from the pressure of tough tournaments like the World Cup because of the number of matches. There is hardly any time in between. ,
He said, “There was a lot of flying inside Australia as well so it was a pleasant three days in Adelaide. So the players and their partners present here (wives and sweethearts) enjoyed the team dinner. It is also a system for uniting the team. The Indian cricket team is the most commercially viable team so it had to travel to all the major cities of Australia to play matches. The team reached Perth from Mumbai. The team stayed in Perth for seven days where it took part in rigorous training and practice matches. The team then played official practice matches (one match in Brisbane was washed out due to rain). These two were separate ‘time zones’ after which the team reached Melbourne. The team then stayed in Melbourne for four days, then Sydney for four days and Perth (different time zones) for three days. The team then spent three days in Adelaide and three days in Melbourne. The team would travel the day after the match, followed by a rest day and an optional training session.
