Indian white ball players will take a break before joining IPL teams, Iyer will undergo surgery

India players who are part of the ODI series against Australia will get a brief break of three to four days before joining their teams’ camps in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), starting March 31. Defending champions Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings will face each other in the season opener in Ahmedabad. It is understandable that with the World Cup in mind, the workload management of the players is being closely monitored and giving them rest is paramount.

The BCCI (Indian Cricket Board) told PTI on the condition of anonymity, “Some players can directly join the IPL teams but they will have the option of taking a break of three-four days so that they can avoid joining their IPL teams.” First take some rest at home. Even if the players do join the training camp directly, it is unlikely that they will train for at least the next 72 hours.

According to sources in the board, Shreyas Iyer will undergo back surgery and will not be a part of the IPL. The decision has been taken keeping in mind the best interest of the player as the surgery now may give him a chance to make a comeback before the World Cup in October. However, at this point of time, his chances of making it to the World Cup squad are slim. Jasprit Bumrah and the famous Krishna are two players who have already undergone back surgeries.
