India’s Under-17 women’s football team would like to get the campaign against Bhutan back on track

After the humiliating loss to hosts Bangladesh, the Indian Under-17 team will look to get their campaign back on track in the SAFF Women’s Championship when they take on Bhutan here on Sunday. India started their campaign with a 4-1 win over Nepal on Monday but lost 0-1 to Bangladesh on Friday. The Indian team could not score due to poor ‘finishing’ and excellent performance by the goalkeeper of the opponent team. Due to which Akhila Rajan scored a goal for Bangladesh and gave victory to her team.

Indian team head coach Priya PV said, “It was a difficult result. The girls played well in the match but a defensive lapse cost us dearly. We could not take advantage of the opportunities we got. Rivals Bhutan, who are currently languishing at the bottom of the five-team table with three losses, helped the Indian team go into their final match against formidable Russia with a good win.
