Renshaw said not thinking about India tour, focus on strong performance against South Africa

Happy to be back in the Australian team after nearly five years, Test cricketer Matt Renshaw said he would look to put in a strong performance if picked for the third Test against South Africa in Sydney starting on Wednesday. The 26-year-old left-handed batsman has not represented the national team since the Cape Town (South Africa) Test in 2018 that hit the headlines with the sandpaper episode. He has played 11 Tests so far in which his highest score is 184.

Due to injuries to all-rounder Cameron Green and fast bowler Mitchell Starc, he has been included in the squad for the last match of the ongoing Test series against South Africa. Renshaw told ‘SEN’ on Monday, “I am only thinking about the Sydney Test.” It is good to have a place in the team for home Test matches before some overseas tours. Renshaw said he is not currently thinking about the four-Test series against India in early February. His focus is on the next match.“I’ve learned a lot,” Renshaw said. I know you can’t plan too far in cricket. So when I am part of the team, I will try to make an impact with my game and help the team as much as I can.
