IPL 2023: Delhi Capitals team will try to spoil the equation of Punjab Kings

New Delhi. The Delhi Capitals team, which is almost out of the race for the playoffs, will try to spoil the equations of the Punjab Kings and keep their bleak hopes alive by winning the Indian Premier League (IPL) match here on Saturday. Delhi have so far won only four matches in 11 matches and even if they win all their remaining three matches, they will still have 14 points, which may not be enough to make it to the top four. Looking at the equations of Agar Magar, the fate of the Delhi team now depends on the performance of other teams. The condition of Punjab Kings is also not very good. He has 10 points from five wins in 11 matches and will have to win all his remaining three matches to keep the playoff hopes alive.

Delhi’s biggest problem is the inability of the Indian batsmen included in its team. His team is heavily dependent on its foreign players captain David Warner, wicket-keeper batsman Phil Salt and Mitchell Marsh. The Indian batsmen in Delhi’s middle order include players like Manish Pandey, Ripple Patel and Aman Khan but all of them have not been able to perform according to the conditions so far. The middle-order batsmen have failed to rotate the strike and also haven’t been able to play the big shots, which is hurting the team. In such circumstances, when Delhi’s top order fails, the team disintegrates. Warner, who batted well in the first phase, also could not walk in the last five innings and in three of these innings he could not even reach double digits, which is a matter of concern for the team. Salt performed brilliantly in two innings but did not perform well in three matches. In two of these matches, he could not even open the account.

Marsh played a tremendous innings against Sunrisers Hyderabad but after that he too could not bat. The Australian all-rounder, however, made useful contributions with the bowling in the last three matches. Delhi bowlers have done well. Spinners Akshar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav have been playing their roles well while pacers Ishant Sharma and Khaleel Ahmed have been able to get wickets on most occasions. However, the team is missing fast bowler Enrique Narkia, who returned home due to personal reasons. As far as Punjab is concerned, it has become a do-or-die situation for them too after their defeats at the hands of Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders in the last two matches.

It has been a rollercoaster season for Punjab. Their batsmen have done well in the last two matches but the bowlers have let them down. Punjab’s batting continues to be dependent on skipper Shikhar Dhawan who has played his role well but the same cannot be said of his opening partner Prabhsimran Singh. Bhanuka Rajapaksa hasn’t done well since his return from injury but wicket-keeper batsman Jitesh Sharma and all-rounder Liam Livingstone have so far displayed their long shot skills. In bowling, Arshdeep Singh is the main bowler of the team but he and two other fast bowlers Nathan Ellis and Sam Curran have failed to stop the run flow. Among the spinners, Rahul Chahar lacks consistency in his performances.Livingstone has also taken only two wickets in five matches. Left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar has also managed only five wickets in 10 matches.
