It is necessary to follow the process and routine for success: Suryakumar Yadav

Brisbane. Star India batsman Suryakumar Yadav has had a lot of success in his short international career so far and feels the “process and routine” will be the key to his campaign in Australia’s maiden T20 World Cup. After his maiden practice session in Australia here on Sunday, the batsman said his main focus in the nets is on assessing the conditions.

Suryakumar has become one of the attackers of the format after making his T20I debut in March last year, taking him to the second spot in the ICC T20I rankings. In a video released by the BCCI (Cricket Board of India), the player said, “I was excited to come here to do the first practice session so that I can go out on the field, run here and see how it feels. The first net session was also great, I wanted to see the pace of the wicket, what kind of bounce is there.

The Indian team will begin its T20 World Cup campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on 23 October at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Suryakumar said, “Started a little slow on the nets because there was definitely a bit of restlessness and excitement but at the same time you have to find ways to adjust to the atmosphere and pick those at the right time. That’s what I’m doing right now. He said, “I am excited but at the same time you have to follow your own procedure and routine.”

The 32-year-old said, “It is important to see the pace and bounce of the wicket during practice and also the ground because people say that the ground here is too big. So you need to be ready with your strategy, how you plan to score runs here, all these things are very important. Conditions are very good, very excited.” Rohit Sharma’s players will play two warm-up matches against Western Australia on October 10 and 13 before starting their campaign in the World Cup. They will then face hosts Australia and New Zealand in warm-up matches here on October 17 and 19.
