Jadeja ruled out of ODI series against Bangladesh; Kuldeep Sen, Shahbaz in the team

Veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was on Wednesday left out of the squad selected for next month’s three-match ODI series against Bangladesh after failing to recover from a knee injury. Apart from Jadeja, left-arm fast bowler Yash Dayal was also ruled out of the series due to a lower back injury. Jadeja underwent knee surgery after the Asia Cup in August-September and has been ruled out of the team indefinitely.

Fast bowler Kuldeep Sen and all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed have been included in the team in place of these two. “The All-India Senior Selection Committee has included fast bowler Kuldeep Sen and all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed in place of Yash Dayal and Ravindra Jadeja for the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh in December,” the BCCI said in a statement. Said, “Dayal has a lower back problem while Jadeja is yet to recover from a knee injury. He will be under the supervision of the BCCI medical team.

Kuldeep and Shahbaz were initially named in the squad for New Zealand’s three-match ODI series starting November 25 in Auckland. Now he will be a part of the team going to Bangladesh. No substitute has been given for the ODI squad for the tour of New Zealand. Bengal’s Abhimanyu Easwaran will lead India A against Bangladesh A in the two four-day series starting November 29 at Cox’s Bazar.

The second four-day match of this series will be played in Sylhet from December 6 to 9. Cheteshwar Pujara and Umesh Yadav, included in the Indian Test team, will be part of the second Test match of the A team. The aim is to provide them practice ahead of the Test series. India are scheduled to play three ODIs (December 4, 7 and 10) and two Tests in Bangladesh and a strong team led by Rohit Sharma will tour the neighboring country. The Test matches will be played in Chittagong from 14 to 18 December and in Mirpur from 22 to 26 December.
