Jameson will have surgery, three to four months delay in return

New Zealand fast bowler Kyle Jamieson will undergo back surgery as his injury flared up again, keeping him out of competitive cricket for more than nine months. Jamieson was expected to make a comeback in the ongoing two-Test series against England. He played the last Test in June 2022. However, the 28-year-old will have to wait a little longer to regain full fitness considering the injury recurred and required surgery.

This fast bowler played a practice match for New Zealand XI against the visiting team of England this month. New Zealand coach Gary Stead told ‘SEN Radio’, “It is a challenging and difficult time for Kyle.” Big loss for us. He was a great player for us when he was part of the team. We wish him recovery.

Jamieson had earlier expressed hope that his injury would heal with rest but a relapse forced him to opt for surgery. Stead said, “Many world-class players have had back surgery and it takes different recovery times. We want to give Kyle the best possible chance to recover because we know what a wonderful player he is for us.
