Jasprit Bumrah will play against Sri Lanka, got fitness certificate from NCA for ODI series

The three-match ODI series between India and Sri Lanka is going to start from January 10. Star bowler Jasprit Bumrah will also join the Indian team in this series. The National Cricket Academy has given the fit certificate to Jasprit Bumrah. After this Jasprit Bumrah will play in the series against Sri Lanka.

Jaspreet is back in the team after a long time. Jasprit Bumrah was away from the Indian team even before the T20 World Cup due to injury. But now after passing the fitness test, he has again been made a part of Team India. In this regard, the Cricket Board of India (BCCI) said in a statement that the All India Senior Selection Committee has included fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah in India’s ODI squad for the three-match Mastercard ODI series against Sri Lanka.

According to the statement, “The fast bowler has undergone rehabilitation and has been declared fit by the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He will soon join India’s ODI team. The first ODI will be played in Guwahati on January 10, while the second and third ODIs will be held in Kolkata and Trivandrum on January 12 and 15 respectively. Given the ODI World Cup this year, it is unlikely that Bumrah will be included in the shortest format team till the 50-over World Cup to be held at home in October-November.

The workload of Bumrah and other important players in the Indian Premier League in view of the ODI World Cup will also be closely monitored by the NCA. India will be looking to win the World Cup at home for the second time after 2011 and Bumrah’s role will be crucial in India’s chances. Since making his international debut in 2016, Bumrah has played 30 Tests, 72 One Day Internationals and 60 T20 Internationals for India.

Experts, including former legendary fast bowler Michael Holding, believe that Bumrah bowls at a fast pace despite a very short run-up, due to which there is a possibility of injury. Holding said in 2020 that I understood Bumrah’s problem and told him the last time I saw him in England how long the body would last with such a short run up and so much effort in bowling. This is human body not a machine.

Indian squad for ODI series against Sri Lanka: Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Lokesh Rahul, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Jaspreet Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh.
