Kanitkar said Deepti sets very high standards in training

Indian women’s team batting coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar on Wednesday said that the secret of team’s top all-rounder Deepti Sharma’s success lies in maintaining “high intensity” in training which is almost match-like conditions. The off-spinner was instrumental in helping India reach the final of the women’s T20 International tri-series here, taking eight wickets at an average of 8.75. Kanitkar said in a virtual media interaction on the eve of the final match of the tri-series against South Africa, “As long as the players keep the level of training high, it will continue to work in the matches.” She (Deepti) practices just like she plays in matches, which really helps her. ,

Deepti took three wickets for 11 runs in the eight-wicket win against the West Indies on Monday. The batting coach of the Indian women’s team said, “She is an important player in any format. The good thing is he has a way of scoring runs which makes him consistent. She is doing well. He just needs to keep it simple, just make sure to get the ‘basics’ right. Veteran medium pacer Shikha Pandey has made a comeback after October 2021, she is yet to pick a wicket in the series.

Kanitkar said, “To be honest, both of us are not bothered much by this. She (Shikha) is working hard, she has experience and that is fine for us. “I am happy with the way she is bowling. Troy (bowling coach Troy Cooley) has been working with her and is happy with the way she is bowling.
