Karen said that even thinking about the IPL auction was not sleeping

Sam Karen, who became the costliest player in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction here on Friday, said he could not sleep the night before the ‘mini auction’. He was bought by Punjab Kings for an amount of 18.5 crores. Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings bid for Karen, the T20 World Cup ‘Player of the Tournament’.

But in the end Punjab Kings won. Karen said on Star Sports show ‘Cricket Live – Auction Special’, ‘I could not sleep much last night, was a little excited, also nervous about how the auction would be. But very happy and overwhelmed that I was bought for this amount. I was not expecting this amount. The 24-year-old all-rounder also said that he is happy to be back in the Punjab team for which he made his IPL debut in 2019. The name of Punjab Kings was then Kings XI Punjab. Karen said, “Definitely going back to where the IPL journey started, where I had my debut season four years ago. So it’s great to be there and I’ll be there with some of my England mates as well.
