Karnataka’s 304 runs with Samarth’s century, Puducherry’s 58 for three in the second innings

Opener Ravikumar Samarth (137) scored a century as Karnataka posted 304 in the first innings to reduce Puducherry to 58 for three at stumps on the second day of their Ranji Trophy Group C match here on Wednesday. Karnataka started the game at 111 for one and Samarth continued to bat well, taking the ball across the boundary 17 times in his 242-ball innings. The opener shared a 63-run partnership with Nikin Jose (30 runs) and a 55-run partnership with Manish Pandey (45 runs). He was dismissed by Paras Dogra in the 82nd over.

Left-arm spinner Ankit Sharma (6/60) took five wickets on the second day. But the hosts still managed to take a 134-run first innings lead as their bowlers bundled out Puducherry for 170 in the first innings. Puducherry’s team had lost three wickets till the score of 58 runs in the second innings till stumps. Opener Jai Pandey is at the crease scoring 25 runs and Sridhar Ashwath scoring three runs.The team is still trailing by 76 runs.

In Jamshedpur, after scoring 386 in the first innings, Jharkhand had taken four wickets till Goa’s 99 at stumps. In another match, Rajasthan scored 337 runs in the first innings on the basis of a century by Deepak Hooda (133 runs), taking eight wickets till the Kerala team’s score of 268 runs at stumps. In reply to Army’s first innings 213 in Delhi, Chhattisgarh took the lead at 280 for five at stumps on the second day.
