Khap Mahapanchaya announces Mahila Panchayat in front of Parliament on May 28

The Khap Mahapanchayat on Sunday decided that women supporting the protest against former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh will hold a panchayat in front of the new Parliament House on May 28. On this day Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the new Parliament House. The Khap Panchayat leaders held a meeting in Rohtak on a day when some major decision was expected, but in the end they decided to march to the Parliament House. Among the protesting wrestlers, Sakshi Malik and her husband Satyavrat Kadyan attended the mahapanchayat while Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat remained at the protest site at Jantar Mantar.

Poonia said, “He has taken four decisions. Mahila Panchayat will be organized in front of Parliament House on 28th May. Before this, on May 23, we will do a ‘Candle Light March’ from Jantar Mantar to India Gate. The mahapanchayat reiterated their demand to arrest Brijbhushan and promised that the khaps would reach the picket site within five hours on the call of the wrestlers. We welcome the decisions of the mahapanchayat. Whether male supporters will accompany the women or not will be decided later.
