Brooke, Gardner named ICC players of the month

Harry Brook, who played a key role in leading England to a historic Test series win in Pakistan, was on Tuesday named the ICC (International Cricket Council) men’s player of the month for the first time. Ashleigh Gardner of Australia won this title among women. He did wonders with ball and bat in the five-match T20 International series against India. Due to this strong performance, she also reached the top of the rankings for all-rounders. Australia won the series 4–1.

Both players were selected on the basis of global voting conducted by media representatives, ICC Hall of Fame inductees, former international players and fans registered on the ICC website. England recorded a resounding 3–0 victory in the three-Test series in Pakistan, with Brook scoring a century in each match. He scored 153 and 87 at Rawalpindi followed by memorable innings of 108 at Multan and 111 at Karachi. Like Brooke, Gardner has also won this title for the first time. He scored 115 runs against India at a strike rate of 166.66 and took seven wickets at an average of 18.28.
