KIYG 2022: Madhya Pradesh performed brilliantly, won Gold Medal in Water Sports debut

On a historic day three of the Khelo India Youth Games 2022, the hosts created a flutter by winning all four gold medals in Kayaking and Canoeing in the beautiful Upper Lake region of their capital city. K-2 1000m boys’ sprint pair of Nitin Verma and Rimson Marembam crossed the line first. With this, Nitin and Rimson also became the first gold medalists of the 4th edition of Khelo India Youth Games.

 

Apart from this, the states of Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh have also won gold medals in the Khelo India Youth Games. In table tennis, both the states have succeeded in winning gold medals. However, this whole day was in the name of Madhya Pradesh only. Madhya Pradesh showcased its natural prowess in amazing water sports. Madhya Pradesh won four gold in these games. Odisha and Telangana were the other top performers in the water, winning a total of six silver and bronze medals, according to an official statement.

 

In the table tennis competition being held at Abhay Prashal, Indore, two gold medals have been won by the teams of Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh in the doubles matches of boys and girls. Maharashtra has won the gold medal in the girls’ category and Uttar Pradesh in the boys’ category.

 

In the girls’ doubles final, Pritha Vartikar and Jennifer Varghese defeated Risha Mirchandani and Tanish Kotecha 3-0 (13-11, 11-9, 11-7). The boys’ doubles final went to four games but Uttar Pradesh’s Divyansh Srivastava and Sarth Mishra defeated West Bengal’s Sujal Banik and Bodhisattva Chowdhary 3-1 (8-11, 11-8, 11-6, 11-8). There itselfThe bronze went to Radak Karnataka in the girls’ category and Maharashtra in the boys’ category.

Significantly, a dozen games were played in five cities and 11 venues in the host state of Madhya Pradesh. Preparations are on to play the volleyball semi-finals in Bhopal’s indoor hall. Apart from this, semi-finals for boys and girls singles are to be held at MP Badminton Academy in Gwalior.

 

Archery competition has started in Jabalpur. Whereas the competitions of gymnast and yoga have started in Ujjain. Football game competition has also started for boys in Indore and for girls in Balaghat. Shooting has also started at the MP Academy Shooting Range on the outskirts of Bhopal. Khokho is being organized at Ranital Sports Complex in Jabalpur. Cycling in Delhi and traditional martial arts Gatka in Mandla will start soon.
