Klusener, Lalchand and Whatmore appointed as Indian Maharaja’s coach
Veteran South African all-rounder Lance Klusener was on Friday appointed coach of the Indian maharajas team, studded with stars like Irfan Pathan, S Sreesanth and Robin Uthappa, in the ‘Legends League Cricket (LLC) Masters’. In this tournament of ex-players to be played in Qatar from March 10 to 20, apart from the Indian Maharaja team of Indian players, World Giants and Asia Lions teams will participate.
Lalchand Rajput, who coached the Indian team when they won the T20 World Cup title in 2007, will be the coach of the World Giants in this tournament, while Dave Whatmore, one of the successful coaches of the world of cricket, will take charge of the Asia Lions team. One of the most explosive batsman and fast bowlers of his time, Klusener said in a release here, “I greatly appreciate the opportunity to work with such a great legend of Indian cricket at LLC Masters and I wish them all the best.” Competing against the biggest stars of the international game. Apart from India, Lalchand, who has coached Zimbabwe, Afghanistan and Mumbai Indians, is set to work with former greats like Brett Lee, Jacques Kallis, Chris Gayle and Shane Watson. He said, “I am looking forward to working with great players like Aaron Finch, Brett Lee, Chris Gayle, Shane Watson and many more. We have some great players in our team and it will be a great opportunity for me as a coach to work with them. The first match of this league will be between Indian Maharajas and Asia Lions on 10th March.
