Kramrich scores two goals as Croatia beat Canada 4-1

Andrej Kramarich scored twice as Croatia came back strongly to thrash Canada 4-1 in their FIFA World Cup match here on Sunday. The Canadian team was playing in the World Cup for the first time in 36 years but were eliminated from the tournament after two matches in Qatar. Alfonso Davis scored Canada’s first World Cup goal in the second minute to give his team the lead. But Croatia bounced back from a goalless draw with Morocco in the opening match, scoring four goals.

Apart from Kramarich (36th and 70th minutes), Marko Livaja (44th minute) and Lovro Maier (90+4th) also scored for Croatia, the runners-up of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, at the Khalifa International Stadium. Captain Luka Modric (37 years old) was in search of his first goal of the tournament but could not find it. This is probably his last World Cup. Morocco, who pulled off a 2-0 upset win over Croatia and Belgium, have four points in Group F.

Belgium has three points and still has a chance to qualify for the next round. Canada got no points from the first two matches and a win against Morocco on Thursday would not put them through to the next round. Croatia will face Belgium. Canada had previously reached the World Cup in 1986 and was also eliminated in the group stage.
