We never put any kind of pressure on Sania to win: Imran Mirza

Can’t believe it’s been 30 years since Sania first held a tennis racket. She was definitely a phenomenal talent and it didn’t take me long to understand that. I used to participate in club level tennis and state ranking tournaments when I was young but followed and analyzed the game very closely from the time I was in school. I was never a very good tennis player but I believe I had a keen eye and analytical mind for the game.

Sania was destined to earn name and fame in the sport she loved. Several renowned coaches on the tennis tour told me in private that just as God had gifted Sania with immense talent in tennis, he has gifted me with the power to see and understand the game in order to develop her tennis talent and temperament. was provided. God also blessed my wife with very special skills which complemented our daughter in pursuing a professional career in this sport.

It was my family’s sporting background that helped us deal with defeat and victory with the right attitude. This helped Sania to grow as a tennis player and prolong her career. Tennis is a game where losing and winning are all about the mind and mental strength is very important in this. Restraint plays a key role in success and I believe that as parents we had the biggest contribution in making Sania fearless on the tennis court.

When a child loses on the playground, he doesn’t care what the world thinks about his defeat. But how is the attitude of the parents on his defeat, it affects him mentally and psychologically. The child’s temperament is determined by the parent’s reaction to his failures. When Sania first picked up the racket, I was very careful about it and we never put any kind of pressure on her to win.

Our focus was always on her doing her best and we were happy as long as she did and showed our support by celebrating her even on the days she lost. Over the years, people have talked about Sania’s calm demeanor under pressure, fearlessness and ability to face difficult situations during matches. I believe this is achieved by the confidence that we as parents have instilled in her when she was young.

We have always backed him and winning and losing are a part of the game. It takes a lot of sacrifice and effort to produce an international tennis player. Our entire family was obsessed with tennis and we were ready to do anything to help Sania achieve what no other girl in our country had achieved in the sport. We weren’t doing it for the money or the fame.

Whatever efforts we made were purely for the passion that we had for the sport and to give India a world class female tennis player – the likes of which our country had never seen before. When we look back three decades since Sania first picked up a racket at the age of six, we feel a sense of pride and satisfaction that we played our part well.

We are not only proud that we gave India a tennis player who achieved many successes at the international level for two decades, but we are also proud that we created a role model that not only girls but boys also It is a belief that if you have a dream, belief and commitment with hard work then nothing is impossible to achieve in any field.
