Lee Jae-myung and Yoon Seok-yeol’s side, ‘Seongnam FC, Kobana Contents’ workshop

The battle between Lee Jae-myung, governor of Gyeonggi-do and former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol over the suspicion of bribery of Seongnam FC is fierce. When former President Yoon insisted on ‘third-party bribery’ over the allegations, the governor responded that it was an act like a ‘malignant special unit prosecutor’.

Kim Byung-min, a spokesperson for the former president’s camp, said in a comment on the 7th, “Governor Lee Jae-myung should disclose what kind of political benefit he gained through Seongnam FC.”

Spokesperson Kim said, “It is clear that candidate Lee Jae-myung had a personal and political interest in the operation of Seongnam FC.”

The day before (6th), when the governor rebutted Yoon’s claim of ‘third-party bribery’, he attacked once again.

The Seongnam FC donation case raised suspicions that six companies paid some kind of bribes to Seongnam FC, a soccer club, from 2015 to 2017, when Lee was serving as the mayor of Seongnam.

At that time, Naver, Doosan E&C, Nonghyup, CHA Hospital, Hyundai Department Store and Alpha Dome City provided a total of 16.15 billion won to Seongnam FC. The owner of the club was the mayor of Seongnam, Lee.

Spokesperson Kim said, “If Seongnam Mayor was not the owner of the club at the same time, which company would be willing to sponsor billions of won? There is no logical explanation as to why it was broken,” he pointed out.

He continued, “If you change the land use to companies and return the benefits in the direction of strengthening your political position, it is a bribery crime,” he said.

At a press conference held in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, on the 7th, Governor Lee said, “Recently, former President Yoon raised suspicions of ‘Seongnam FC bribery’. It was so absurd.” He criticized former President Yoon, saying, “It’s an act like a rogue special unit prosecutor who creates and prosecutes crimes that do not have a purpose for prosecution.”

He continued, “There is no problem that all of Seongnam FC’s donation income goes to Seongnam citizens, and in the case of the Mir-K Sports Foundation, it is for Choi Soon-sil. He went out,” he pointed out.

The governor pointed out Yoon’s professionalism as a prosecutor and pointed out that “I think those things may have been the cause of the decline in approval ratings.” According to elect prerogative runner preference survey conducted by Gallup Korea last 3-5 days approval rating of Yun former president fell 6 percentage points (p) in one month (for details, see the National Election Poll Committee website)

The Governor Kim Nam-guk, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, who is playing the role of head of the execution office, counterattacked by mentioning the contents of Kobana, which is represented by Kim Gun-hee, the wife of former president Yoon.

He said on his Facebook page, “The more the former President Yoon makes a lot of noise, the more widely the achievements of this branch will be known,” he said.

He continued, “At the time of his tenure as Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office or prior to his appointment as the Prosecutor General, there were suspicions that he might have received insurance support from potential (a company subject to investigation by the prosecution) or a company subject to investigation by the prosecution. “It was strange that the number of contracts had soared, and it was also strange that the amount had soared so much,” he said.

He added, “If the company run by the spouse of former President Yoon received sponsorship or sponsorship from companies under investigation, not only may there be a conflict of interest in itself, but also a ‘third-party bribery crime’ can be sufficiently established depending on whether there is an improper solicitation or payment in return. “It would be great if you could disclose how, in what way, how much, how much, and how much Kobana Contents received from which company, when, for which exhibition plan, and for what reason. I want to resolve the suspicion of third-party bribery of Kobana Contents.”
