Viacom18 buys media rights of Women’s IPL for Rs 951 crore

New Delhi. The BCCI on Monday announced that Viacom18 has bought the media rights of the upcoming women’s IPL for Rs 951 crore for five years, beating Disney Star and Sony. The auction for the T20 league was held at the cricket board’s headquarters in Mumbai on Monday. There are three categories of global rights which include TV, digital and hybrid rights. In the men’s IPL, all three rights were sold separately. According to BCCI secretary Jai Shah, the fee per match in the next five years will be Rs 7 crore 90 thousand. He tweeted, “Congratulations to Viacom18 on getting the media rights for the Women’s IPL.”
