Ruckus on the issue of public representatives vs bureaucracy in Bihar Legislative Assembly

Patna. Bihar Labor Resources Minister Jivesh Kumar Mishra objected to the stopping of vehicles of MLAs and ministers for smooth movement of the vehicle of the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police in the Assembly premises. Mishra, intervening in the Assembly during Question Hour on Thursday, said that their vehicle was stopped in the assembly premises to allow the movement of the vehicles of the District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police.

Seeing this issue as an insult to the House and an attack on its dignity, the members of the ruling party and the opposition together raised their voices. Members of the opposition party came in the middle of the house in protest and started creating ruckus demanding action against the culprits. Following their persistent protest, Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha adjourned the House for ten minutes at 11.37 am.

Raising this issue, Minister Mishra demanded immediate suspension of those guilty of insulting public representatives. Angered by his alleged humiliation, Mr. Mishra demanded the Speaker to clarify the stand of the bureaucrats towards the government, ministers and MLAs saying that he would not return to his seat until the position was clarified by the chair.

BJP expressed strong displeasure

In Bihar, in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA)-led Nitish government, the BJP has expressed strong displeasure over the officials stopping the official vehicle of Labor Resource Minister Jivesh Kumar Mishra from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) quota. BJP State President and MP Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal wrote on his Facebook page, “I am sure that the Speaker will definitely take cognizance of whatever incident has happened in the assembly premises with Minister Jivesh Mishra. It is said by the Chief Secretary that the District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police have to respect the public representatives, but no action is taken against the officers who do not follow the common courtesy.
