Lovlina said, will help in regaining gold form of Asian Championship

India’s star boxer Lovlina Borgohain on Monday described her Asian Championship gold medal as “very important” and said her maiden tournament in the new weight category will help her regain her lost form. Lovlina had been battling poor form ever since she won the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics. He changed the weight category from 69 to 75 kg keeping in mind the Paris Olympics. After returning home, Lovlina, who won a gold medal at the Asian Championship in Ammam, Jordan, said, “This gold means a lot to me.It is very important. This will boost my confidence.”

“It was my first championship in the new weight category and I won the gold. I know I am going in the right direction. I am gaining form and trying to do my best at the right time. This win means a lot.” Lovlina said, “I won a bronze medal in the Olympics last year. I am trying to do well in every championship. My first target is to win a gold medal in the World Championships to be held in Delhi next year. After this, winning a medal in the Paris Olympics is also the goal.” India won four gold, two silver and six bronze medals in the Asian Championship. All four golds were won by female boxers.
