Madrid Copa Cup: Benzema’s hat-trick, Real beat Barcelona to reach tournament final

Barcelona. Karim Benzema scored another hat-trick as Real Madrid thrashed arch-rivals Barcelona 4-0 to enter the final of the Copa del Rey football tournament. It was the first time since a 5–1 win in 1963 when Real Madrid beat Barcelona by a four-goal margin at their home ground Camp Nou. Real Madrid thus won the semi-finals by an aggregate margin of 4–1.

Barcelona had won the first leg 1–0 and needed only a draw in the second leg to qualify for the final. But in front of Benzema’s brilliant game, Barcelona’s one did not work. Apart from Benzema, Vinicius Junior also scored for Real Madrid. Real Madrid will face Osasuna, who beat Athletic Bilbao 2-1 on aggregate, in the final on May 6 in Seville.
