Madrid Open: Sabalenka defeated Swiatek to win the tournament title

Madrid. Aryna Sabalenka won the women’s singles title of the Madrid Open tennis tournament by defeating Iga Swiatek in the final match played between the two top-ranked players in the world. Sabalenka, ranked second in the world, defeated top-ranked Swiatek 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 in a hard-fought three-set match.

Belarus player Sabalenka had lost in the final of Stuttgart Open two weeks ago and before that she could not win in three matches played on clay court against her rival Swiatek of Poland. However, they showed aggressive attitude here and won the match which lasted two and a half hours. This is the third title of Australian Open champion Sabalenka this season and 13th career bridge.
