Mane, Narwal make it to Baku World Cup squad

Shahu Tushar Mane and Shiv Narwal have earned a place in the Indian team for the International Shooting Sport Federation’s (ISSF) Rifle/Pistol World Cup to be held in Baku from May 8 to 15 on the back of their good performances at the Bhopal World Cup. The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) announced the 22-member Indian squad for the upcoming tournament which will be the fifth ISSF World Cup stage of the year. Recently the third phase of the World Cup was successfully organized in Bhopal.

The fourth leg will be held in Lima, Peru from April 11 where India has decided not to participate. Mane in men’s 10m air rifle and Narwal in men’s 10m air pistol are the new names in the Bhopal World Cup team. Mane, playing only for ranking points, broke into the top three in the latest rankings to overtake Divyansh Singh Panwar after scoring a solid 630.7 in Bhopal. Narwal shot 585 in Bhopal which was also the top qualifying score in the tournament. He has replaced Sumit Raman in the team. In another change, Esha Singh replaced Manu Bhaker in the women’s 10m air pistol team. She is also a member of the women’s 25m pistol team. Bronze medalist Manu from Bhopal will compete in only the 25m event in Baku. All the shooters of rifle and pistol are now preparing for the national selection trials to be held in Bhopal next month.
