Medal winning players of Madhya Pradesh will be made DSP, Deputy Collector: Chief Minister
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday said Olympic and Asian Games medal-winning sportspersons from the state would be appointed as deputy superintendents of police (DSP) and deputy collectors. Chouhan was addressing the Madhya Pradesh Shikhar Khel Alankaran ceremony here. Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur also attended the ceremony. Chouhan and Thakur also unveiled the emblem of the Khelo India Youth Games-2022 to be held in Madhya Pradesh next year on the occasion.
The Chief Minister said that parents are worried about the career of their children and prevent them from joining sports. Citing the example of hockey player Vivek Sagar, who was part of the Indian team that won the bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics, being made DSP and given a house worth Rs 1 crore in Bhopal, Chouhan said, “We have decided that in the Olympics and Asian Games, Those sportspersons from Madhya Pradesh who bring medals will also be given the post of DSP and Deputy Collector.
“The state government has also decided to appoint 10 sportspersons as sub-inspectors and 50 as constables in the police force on the basis of their performance,” he said. The player who performs well in the Khelo India Youth Games, that is, wins a medal, will also be given five lakh rupees annually for training. The Chief Minister said that his government would gradually develop sports infrastructure at the village level. Chouhan said that sports-friendly environment is being created in Madhya Pradesh. Sports infrastructure is being developed at every district, block and panchayat level.
Not only will there be excellent sports infrastructure in the state, along with this every facility will be made available to the players for sports. Madhya Pradesh will also become number one in sports. He said that international level stadium is being constructed at Barkheda Nathu in Bhopal. He said that Madhya Pradesh is continuously moving forward in sports. Khelo India will leave no stone unturned in organizing the Youth Games. Union Sports Minister Thakur said that Madhya Pradesh has made a lot of progress in the field of sports in the last two decades. Chief Minister Chouhan deserves congratulations for this. It has excellent quality sports infrastructure.
The shooting range here is very beautiful. He said that when our sportspersons take medals in any other country, our national anthem is sung along with the hoisting of our national flag. This increases the pride of the country. Thakur said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country has got the opportunity to organize Chess Olympiad for the first time, for which he launched the relay torch. The country has got gold medal in Thomas Cup for the first time in the year 2022. 1,000 Khelo India Centers are being opened in the country.
He said that Chief Minister Chouhan has increased the sports budget of the state from Rs 4 crore to Rs 400 crore. Thakur said that a budget of Rs 3195 crore has been provided for five years under the Khelo India programme. Apart from the equestrian and shooting academies, Thakur also inspected the Water Sports Academy, Tatya Tope Nagar Stadium and the Sports Authority of India (SAI). The fifth edition of Khelo India Youth Games to be held from 30 January to 11 February 2023 will be held in eight cities of Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Mandla, Balaghat and Khargone (Maheshwar). One game (cycling) will be played in Delhi. For the first time water sports will be a part of this edition of Khelo India Youth Games. During this, 27 games will be held at 23 venues in nine cities. Around 6,000 players will take part in the Games.
