Mohammad Hassamuddin starts with a win in the Men’s World Boxing Championships

Skilled boxer Mohammad Hassamuddin on Monday produced a stellar performance at the IBA Men’s World Boxing Championships 2023 by registering a resounding victory in Tashkent Uzbekistan. It is because of his brilliant performance that India started the tournament on a winning note.
 
Two-time Commonwealth Games bronze medalist Hassamuddin 57kg made a winning start with a 5-0 win over Macedonia’s Alen Rustamovski in the first round. In this match Mohammad Hassamuddin used his strength, high technical ability and won. Star boxer Mohammed Hussamuddin produced an impressive performance to open India’s campaign at the IBA Men’s World Boxing Championships with a resounding victory here on Monday.In the 60kg category, Varinder Singh lost to Mujibilo Tursunov of Uzbekistan and was eliminated from the competition after losing 0-5.
 
Tokyo Olympian and 2019 Asian Championships Ashish Chowdhary and debutant Harsh Chowdhary will take to the ring for their tournament openers on Tuesday. Ashish will take on Iran’s Mesam Gheshlaghi in the 80kg, while Harsh will take on Australia’s Billy McAllister in the 86kg. The Boxing Federation of India has fielded a 13-member team for the competition. 538 boxers including multiple Olympic medalists from 107 countries are taking part in the competition. A total of seven Indian male boxers have won medals at the World Boxing Championships so far and the country’s talented boxers will aim to add to the tally in the current season of the tournament.
