Moody confident of a strong game from Shami in India vs Pakistan match

India pacer Mohammed Shami may not have spent much time on the field ahead of the T20 World Cup but former Australia all-rounder Tom Moody feels he is a big game player and his expertise in the pressure game against Pakistan has helped the team. Will benefit. Shami was included in the main team after India’s main fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was injured.

He has recently recovered from corona virus. Shami bowled in the last over in the warm-up match against Australia. He took three wickets for four runs in the 20th over of this match played on October 17. “He hasn’t got enough time to play or practice, but by bowling that one over against Australia, he proved he’s mentally strong,” Moody said in ‘Game Plan’ on Star Sports. Shami was not part of the series against Australia and South Africa played on Indian soil due to the grip of Kovid-19. In T20 Internationals, Shami represented the Indian team in the World Cup played in UAE almost a year ago. He played his last ODI in July on the tour of England.

Moody said Shami along with experienced Bhuvneshwar Kumar and young Arshdeep Singh will form a strong trio of fast bowlers for India. The 57-year-old player-turned-coach said, “I will pick Shami in the team. I would like to give preference to experience. Obviously Bhuvi and Arshdeep will be the team’s first choice bowlers. I think in big (pressure) matches you should support big players (match winners).

When asked about the match between India and Pakistan, he said, “I think it will be a close match. The batting of the Indian team is strong, while the strong side of Pakistan is their bowlers. “It will be interesting to see how the Indian batsmen perform against the Pakistan bowlers at the start of the innings. I think this match will be dominated by the Indian team.
