Mukund Sasikumar reaches singles quarterfinals of Mysuru Open
India’s Sasikumar Mukund stormed into the singles quarterfinals of the ITF Mysore Open 2023 with a 6-1 6-2 win over compatriot Faisal Qamar, here on Thursday. It was Sasikumar’s second match of the day as the fourth seeded Indian had earlier booked his round of 32 match against Serbia’s Boris Butulija on Wednesday evening. Sasikumar was leading 2-1 in the first set on Wednesday evening when rain interrupted the match and he won the match 6-3 3-6 6-3 on Thursday.
Unseeded Indian Karan Singh beat compatriot Siddharth Rawat, seeded seventh, 7-6 (3) 3-6 6-4, while local player SD Prajwal Dev beat compatriot Vishnu Vardhan 6-4 7-6 (6) to reach the quarters. Made it to the finals. In doubles, top seeded Indian pair of B Rithvik Choudhary and Nikki Poonacha defeated the Indo-French pair of Nitin Kumar Sinha and Florent Bakx 6-3 7-6 (3) to book their place in the semi-finals. Earlier, the fourth seeded Indian pair of Parikshit Somani and Manish Sureshkumar defeated American pair of Dali Blanch and Nicolas Bybel 6-3 6-7 (5) 12-10 to enter the semi-finals.
