Former Indian team player and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar shared special memories during an event held in Mumbai. He has also expressed his happiness over the World Cup triumph on the completion of 25 years of his historic ‘Desert Storm’ innings against Australia in Sharjah in 1998. He thanked the fans and said that it was not possible to achieve whatever I have achieved without your support, love and affection.

 

He said that winning the final of the World Cup 2011 played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is a very special moment. He said that it was only through the positive energy of crores of fans that India was able to win. The winning of the trophy started from 1983 which was completed in 2011. It is not only the trophy of the Indian team but everyone’s trophy because everyone had a role in it. He said that till 2011 no hosting country had won the trophy, while at the same time the expectations of the people were very high. Crores of people were with us, so it was difficult to stop. It was the best day of my cricketing life in my city.

 

Significantly, today is a very special day in the life of Sachin Tendulkar because on this day 25 years ago i.e. in 1998, he played a stormy inning of 143 runs in 131 balls against Australia at Shahjah ground. He hit nine fours and five sixes in this memorable and historic innings.

 

Let us tell you that in this match, the Indian team got a target of 285 runs, while chasing which there was a sandstorm in Sharjah. Due to this fierce storm, the match had to be stopped. However, after the stoppage of the match, Sachin Tendulkar himself became a storm and broke down on the bowlers of Australia. This is the reason why this innings of Sachin is known as Desert Storm. However, due to the strong innings of Sachin Tendulkar, the Indian team could not win this match.
