Devon Conway and Glenn Phillips scored half-centuries as New Zealand beat Bangladesh by 48 runs to enter the final of the tri-nation T20 cricket series with Pakistan here on Wednesday. This is New Zealand’s third win in four matches, taking them to six points and they are at the top. Pakistan have four points from three matches and a win over New Zealand made it to the final with one match remaining. Bangladesh suffered its third consecutive defeat.
Now the match between him and Pakistan on Thursday has become formal. New Zealand posted a strong score of 208 for five when invited to bat first. Conway (64 off 40 balls, five fours, three sixes) and Phillips (60 off 24 balls, two fours, five sixes) contributed significantly. Apart from these two, Finn Allen contributed 32 and Martin Guptill contributed 34 runs. Phillips completed his fifty in just 19 balls.
In reply, Bangladesh’s team could manage only 160 runs for seven wickets despite captain Shakib Al Hasan’s innings of 70 runs.Adam Milne was New Zealand’s most successful bowler. He took three wickets for 24 runs. Apart from them, Tim Southee and Michael Bracewell took two wickets each. The final of this series, organized in connection with the preparations for the World Cup to be held in Australia, will be played on October 14.
