Argentina Tennis Open: Alcarez defeats Nori to win first title after US Open

Buenos Aires. Spain’s top seed Carlos Alcarez won his first title since the US Open by defeating Britain’s Cameron Nori in the final of the Argentina Tennis Open here on Sunday. World No. 2 Alcarez defeated No. 12 Nori 6-3, 7-5 in the final. Alcarez missed the Australian Open due to a right leg injury, after which Novak Djokovic overtook him to become the world number one by winning the title there. The 19-year-old Alcarez lost the only set in his first tournament of the year against Laslo Zair of Serbia.

After winning the first set in 36 minutes, Alcarez broke second seed Nori in the second set as well.However, when Alcarez was serving to win the championship at 5-4, Nori tried to break back but the Spaniard won the next game to clinch the title. Nori has lost in the final for the second time this year. Earlier, they had also lost in the final in Auckland in January. Alcarez will now go on to defend his title at the Rio Open.
