Pakistan got two days of happiness in ICC ODI Rankings, after losing the match to NZ, the kingdom was snatched

In the ODI series played by the Pakistan team with New Zealand, Pakistan has faced defeat in the last match. After the impressive performance in this series, there was a tremendous jump in the ICC ODI rankings of the Pakistan cricket team. After this, Pakistan’s team was at the top of the ICC rankings. As soon as the Pakistan team lost the last ODI against New Zealand, it slipped down in the rankings as well. The last match of the five-match series against New Zealand was played on Sunday, May 7. In this match, New Zealand defeated the Pakistan team by 47 runs. After the defeat in this match, the ODI ranking of the Pakistan team fell down. Pakistan has now slipped from the first position to the third position. At the same time, Australia occupies the first position.

 

It happened for the first time that the Pakistan team came in first place in the ODI rankings. But this crown could not last for more than two days with Pakistan. Pakistan’s ranking has improved due to the explosive performance in this series and it remains at the third position. Pakistan team has 112 points.

 

A relatively weak New Zealand side prevented Pakistan from sweeping the five-match series with a 47-run win in the fifth and final ODI here on Sunday. The New Zealand team, batting first, was dismissed for 299 runs in 49.3 overs. Pakistan’s team in response was reduced to 252 runs in 46.1 overs, which is their lowest score in the series. Captain Babar Azam was able to score only one run in his 100th ODI. Half-centuries from Will Young (87) and captain Tom Latham (59) and a useful 43 from Mark Chapman helped New Zealand post a challenging total.

 

For Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi took three wickets while Usma Mir and Shadab Khan took two wickets each. In response, Pakistan did not have a good start and at one stage their score was 66 for four. Middle-order batsman Iftikhar Ahmed scored an unbeaten 94 off 72 balls. He shared a 97-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Salman Agakhan (57). After the dismissal of Aga Khan in the 35th over, no other Pakistani batsman could support Iftikhar for long. For New Zealand, Henry Shipley and Rachin Ravindra took three wickets each. New Zealand went into this limited-overs tour of Pakistan without eight of their key players. Its players are participating in the Indian Premier League in India. New Zealand had tied the T20 series 2-2 before the ODI series.
