Pakistan Super League: Islamabad in PSL playoffs by defeating Quetta

Rawalpindi. All-rounder Faheem Ashraf hit three consecutive fours in the last over as Islamabad United beat Quetta Gladiators by two wickets to enter the Pakistan Super League play-offs. Quetta had scored 179 runs for six wickets, in response to which Islamabad needed nine runs in the last over. Ashraf remained unbeaten on 39, hitting fast bowler Odion Smith for three fours in the first three balls. Islamabad scored 183 runs for eight wickets with three balls remaining.

This is Islamabad’s fifth win in seven matches and is second only to Lahore Qalandars. The Qalandars were the first team to qualify for the playoffs. On the other hand, Quetta is on the verge of being eliminated with just two points from seven matches. For Quetta, Najibullah Zadran scored 59 runs in 34 balls while Mohammad Nawaz scored 52 runs in 44 balls. At the same time, Colin Munro scored 63 runs in 29 balls for Islamabad, which included four sixes and five fours.
