PCB chairman’s statement again regarding Asia Cup 2023, if the Indian team does not come, the Pakistan team will also not come

Lahore. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi has sought an “early clarity” on this year’s Asia Cup in Pakistan and the ODI World Cup in India, saying he is looking at all options. Sethi said he would raise these issues in the next meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and the International Cricket Council (ICC).

“We have complex issues before us but I will have to keep all options open when I go to the ACC and ICC meetings,” he said at a press conference here on Monday. However, we should clarify the situation now.” He said that there has been no change in India’s stand of not sending its team to Pakistan for the Asia Cup.

The PCB, however, is adamant that if the Indian team does not tour their country for the Asia Cup, then Pakistan will also have to think about not playing the World Cup in India. “I have kept my options open because when all the teams are coming to Pakistan and there is no security issue then why is India worried about security. I will tell this in the upcoming meetings that if India has a problem then our team is also concerned about security during the World Cup in India.

The ICC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Executive Board are meeting this month. The meeting will be attended by Sethi and other officials representing the PCB. “Obviously we don’t support this stand (India) because we want to organize the Asia Cup and remember it’s not just about the Asia Cup and the World Cup, it’s about the 2025 tournament in Pakistan,” he said. There is also about the Champions Trophy.” Sethi said that he would also like to know the opinion of the government on this issue before going to this meeting.
