Prannoy and Sindhu to lead India in Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championship

World number eight HS Prannoy and Commonwealth Games gold medalist PV Sindhu will lead India in the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championship to be held in Dubai from February 14 to 19. The Badminton Association of India (BAI) selected the top players directly while selection trials were conducted for the rest of the team. The last time this tournament was not played in 2021 due to the Corona epidemic. The men’s singles team also includes Lakshya Sen while the women’s team will have Sindhu along with Aakarshi Kashyap.

French Open champions Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will challenge in the men’s doubles. In this, the second pair will be of Krishna Prasad ji and Vishnuvardhan Goud. BAI Secretary Sanjay Mishra said, “We have picked a very strong team which can beat the top teams in the world. Our men’s team won the Thomas Cup last year and I am sure they will win a medal here as well.” All England semi-finalist Gayatri Gopichand and Trisha Jolly will play in the women’s doubles and Ishaan Bhatnagar and Tanisha Castro in the mixed doubles.
