CONCACAF Golf Cup: Vazquez’s goal helps USA hold Jamaica to 1-1 draw

Chicago. Brendan Vazquez’s 88th-minute goal helped defending champions the United States hold Jamaica to a 1-1 draw in their opening match of the CONCACAF Golf Cup football tournament. Damien Lowe gave world number 63 Jamaica the lead in the 13th minute on Saturday night. This was Lowe’s third goal in 53 international matches. He rounded off goalkeeper Matt Turner with a header from Demarai Gray’s free kick.

Vazquez then scored his second international goal from seven yards out in the closing moments of the match to equalize for the United States. The world No. 13 US team will now take on world No. 139 St. Kitts and Nevis on Wednesday in St. Louis. The St Kitts and Nevis team will play world number 104 Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday.
