«With pain we dismissed a World Champion. Respected, admired and a reference. Goodbye Raúl Madero! ”Wrote the official Student account.

“Our most sincere respects to their families and loved ones at this painful time,” continued Estudiantes.

Madero, 82, was the doctor for the Argentine squad in Mexico ’86 with a brilliant Diego Maradona and Carlos Bilardo as coach.

In addition, in his career as a footballer, he conquered the 1968 Intercontinental, the 1968, 1969 and 1970 Libertadores Cups, the 1967 Metropolitan and the 1968 Inter-American Cup.

Despite his closeness with Bilardo during his professional careers, in recent times he moved away and was critical of the former DT: “Bilardo is a very screwed up guy,” he said in a note with El Grafico in 2015.
