Haridwar SSP Ajay Singh said 25-year-old Pant suffered injuries on his head, back and legs, but his condition is stable. He said that Pant had dozed off and his car caught fire after hitting the divider. The driver and the rest of the staff of a Haryana Roadways bus passing by pulled him out of the burning car. He told that the car was completely gutted in the accident. Singh said, “Pant met with an accident at Mangalore in Haridwar district. His car hit the divider at 5.30 am. He was taken to Saksham Hospital in Roorkee from where he was referred to Max Hospital in Dehradun.

“We are all worried but thankfully he is stable. We wish him a speedy recovery,” DDCA secretary Siddharth Sahib Singh said in a statement. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that his government would bear the entire cost of Pant’s treatment. Dhami took the latest information from the officials about Pant’s condition and asked them to make full arrangements for his treatment. He said that if needed, an air ambulance would also be arranged. Although Pant is a centrally contracted player of the BCCI, the board will bear the entire cost of his treatment.

NCA chief VVS Laxman tweeted, “Prayers for Rishabh Pant. Thankfully he is out of danger. Wishing him a speedy recovery. Pant has so far scored 2,271 runs in 33 Tests with the help of five centuries and 11 half-centuries. He has also represented the country in 30 ODIs and 66 T-Twenties.
