Rohit and Archer both fit: Mumbai Indians coach Boucher

Mumbai Indians head coach Mark Boucher confirmed that skipper Rohit Sharma and pacer Jofra Archer are fit to play in their Indian Premier League opener against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday. Speculations were rife that Rohit might not be available for the team’s opening match as he was not present at the captains’ photo shoot in Ahmedabad.

But Boucher quashed all the speculations. Boucher said in the pre-match press conference on Saturday, “Yes, Rohit is fit.He has trained for the last two days and is 100 per cent fit to play. He was not feeling well that morning and as a precautionary measure we asked him to stay at home. ,

He said, “Players have to do a lot of photo shoots. They don’t get much time to themselves so we thought this would be better. In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, England fast bowler Archer will lead the pace attack of Mumbai Indians and he himself is returning after a long time after recovering from injury. Boucher said, “Jofra is 100 per cent ready for tomorrow’s match.” He didn’t train today, it was an optional training session. He felt that he was ready for tomorrow. He will play tomorrow.
