Sarita won gold in 59 kg, became overall champion of RSPB national wrestling

World Championship bronze medalists Sarita Mor (59kg) and Sangeeta Phogat (62kg) retained their respective titles at the Senior Wrestling Championships in the absence of strong wrestlers here on Friday. RSPB (Railway Sports Promotion Board) wrestler Sarita defeated Delhi’s Simran in the 59kg final, while Tokyo Olympic medalist Bajrang Punia’s wife Sangeeta defeated Delhi’s Sumitra in the gold medal bout. On the last day of the tournament, Delhi’s Sushma won the gold by defeating Madhya Pradesh’s Pooja Jat in the final of 53 kg category.

In the absence of Anshu Malik in the 57 kg category, RSPB’s Mansi defeated Haryana’s Seeto to claim the top spot. Bhateri of Army Sports Promotion Board won gold in 65kg by defeating Monia of RSPB. Haryana’s Ritika defeated RSPB’s Nikki to win the 72kg gold. RSPB won the overall team championship with 192 points, beating Haryana (153 points) and Maharashtra (125 points).
