Indian men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty climbed to a career-best fifth position while HS Prannoy returned to the top 10 men’s singles players in the BWF World Rankings released on Tuesday. The pair of Satwik and Chirag produced a stellar performance this year, winning two World Tour titles in the form of the Indian Open Super 500 and the French Open Super 750. The pair also won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games and a bronze medal at the World Championships.
The effect of this success has also been reflected in the rankings of both of them and the pair has reached the fifth position with the gain of two places. The pair has 75,806 rating points from 15 tournaments. Prannoy has also returned to the top 10 once again. Prannoy, who started the year as the world number 26, has now reached the ninth ranking. In 2022, the 30-year-old Prannoy from Kerala made it to the quarter-finals seven times, the semi-finals twice and the final once. Prannoy also played a key role in India’s historic gold medal campaign at the Thomas Cup in Bangkok but could not win any individual title.

Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu remained static at sixth in women’s singles while Birmingham Commonwealth Games bronze-medallist Gayatri Gopchand and Trisha Jolly’s women’s doubles pair gained two places to reach 18th in the world rankings. . In mixed doubles, Ishan Bhatnagar and Tanisha Crasto have gained three places to reach 21st position.
