Satwik-Chirag pair out of Denmark Open, Sen in quarterfinals

Indian men’s badminton pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty crashed out of the Denmark Open Super 750 badminton tournament in the quarter-finals after losing straight games to fourth seeded Malaysian pair of Aaron Chia and Wu Yik Soh here on Friday. The Indian pair fought hard in both the games but could not avoid a 16-21, 19-21 loss to the Malaysian pair. Earlier on Thursday night, Commonwealth Games gold medalist Lakshya Sen defeated compatriot HS Prannoy in straight games to enter the men’s singles quarter-finals of the Denmark Open Super 750 badminton tournament.

World Championship 2021 bronze medalist Sen defeated world number 13 Prannoy by 21. 9, 21 . defeated by 18. He will now face Kodai Naraoka of Japan. Prior to this match Prannoy and Sen’s win-loss record against each other is 2 . 2 but Sen put Prannoy under pressure from the very beginning of the match. World number eight player Sen has 5. Took a lead from 1 which was soon 11 . Turned out to be 3. Sen won the first game easily. In the second game, Prannoy tried to make a comeback but after the break, Sen thwarted his every attempt and registered a win.
