Sarfaraz Ahmed made his comeback to Test cricket even more impressive by scoring his fourth consecutive half-century as he combined with a composed Saud Shakeel to make New Zealand’s chase difficult on the fifth and final day of the second Test on Friday. Pakistan scored 179 runs for five wickets till tea break. He needed 140 runs in 31 overs to win. At the tea break, Sarfaraz was playing on 65 and Shakeel was on 27. Both had so far shared an unbroken 99-run partnership for the sixth wicket.
Sarfaraz, who returned to the team after four years, scored half-centuries in both the innings of the first Test. He also scored 78 runs in the first innings of this match. Earlier, New Zealand spinners had dismissed Pakistan for 80 runs on Friday, the last day of the second cricket test. New Zealand declared their second innings at 277 for five, setting Pakistan a target of 319 for victory.
