ODI World Cup 2023: Even after the announcement of the schedule, Pakistan continues to obstruct, suspense regarding India tour

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is still apprehensive about sending its team to India for the ODI World Cup. However, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is “confident” that the Babar Azam-led side will tour India to play the 50-over World Cup. The ICC on Tuesday announced the schedule of the tournament to be held from October 5 to November 19 and rejected PCB’s request not to schedule its matches against specific teams in Chennai and Bengaluru.

Pakistan is angry

According to the information, PCB wants to swap the venue of Australia and Afghanistan. Apart from this, he is angry with the BCCI and ICC regarding the match against India on 15th at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The PCB did not want to play Afghanistan on the spin-friendly pitch in Chennai and also wanted to avoid facing Australia in Bengaluru. As part of the announcement in Mumbai, it was confirmed that Pakistan would clash with India in Ahmedabad on 15 October and would take on Australia (20 October) and Afghanistan (23 October) at pre-decided venues.

waiting for government approval

Soon after the announcement, the PCB made it clear that its participation in the ODI World Cup would be subject to government approval. A PCB official said that our participation in the World Cup and whether we qualify for the semi-finals, whether to play in Ahmedabad or Mumbai on October 15, will all depend on government approval. The PCB official said that the government has not yet issued any NOC to the PCB to travel to India and since it is a sensitive issue, the board can go ahead only after getting clear instructions from its government.

Indo-Pak match will be held in Ahmedabad

The much-hyped one-day World Cup match between India and Pakistan will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 15, while the final will be played at the world’s largest stadium on November 19. The ICC announced this on Tuesday. The tournament will begin in Ahmedabad itself on October 5 with a match between defending champions England and runners-up New Zealand. Narendra Modi Stadium is the largest stadium in the world in terms of number of spectators which can seat 132000 spectators which is 32000 more than Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The first semi-final of the World Cup 2023 will be played on November 15 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and the second on the next day at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
